Emigration is the name given to the process of leaving one’s country with the purpose to settle on a permanent basis in another. There is also the word immigration which is used when a person resides in a country which is not their country of origin. Human movement from country to country is termed migration. Moving from one country to another is a momentous event in people’s lives. Reasons for moving abroad can happen due to job transfers, for investment, the need to be close to family members, start of a new job or sometimes for more serious reasons such as to seek refuge from conditions in a homeland. Whatever the reason for the move, it is an exciting and hectic time with many experiences and opportunities to be encountered along the way.
