Imagine it…”I’m just nipping down to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch for a pint of milk love”….The liternal translation in to English is  “St Mary’s church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave” of what has to be one of the longest place names in world and certainly the longest train station in Britain.
It must take the locals in the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch absolutely ages to complete any conversion about their little town!
Truth told, the locals actually refer to it as Llanfair and most of the village now work in the tourist industry. The little village is thronging with overseas visitors in the summer months!
We visited the small Anglesey earlier this summer and, like most tongue twisted tourists, took a photo of the sign at the railway station. This is just nuts:

Llanfair - St Marys Anglesey
A mouthful even for the local villagers of Llanfair....
