Random holiday destination I know, but that’s what makes it exciting. Unconventional adds to the magic in my book! Three years ago BC (before children) we chose Bolivia as our holiday destination.
Personal highlights of the trip included two days in the bizarre and wonderful salt deserts of Salar De Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flats. With a train graveyard, hot springs, hotels built out of salt an abundance of wildlife, particularly three species of South American flamingoes adding a splatter of colour against the white background, the scenery is breathtaking and well worth a visit.

It’s really sad about the miners. I think seeing things like that when you travel is extremely important, and is something that many travelers miss out on. In Piura, Peru, many of the people who make pottery (the region is well known for its ceramic pieces) die at a young age from breathing in the dust. It’s one of the only ways for them to make money, so they don’t really have a choice. It’s always important to know more and appreciate what you have! Thanks for sharing this 🙂
