The Art
Florence = Art. Simple as that.
With two of Europe’s top art museums, the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery, the city is a Mecca for art lovers. Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli and Giotto all have their work on display at the Uffizi Gallery so any visit will let you see several masterpieces on the one day.
The Accademia Gallery also deserves a visit and Michelangelo’s ‘David’ statue is the main attraction. Since 1873, the gallery has housed the sculpture and many other Michelangelo works are also to be found here. The original aim was to make a kind of dedication to the work of the great Tuscan artist, but other artists have seen their work included in the collection too and certainly deserve their place.
The Cuisine
An obvious statement coming up, but Florence is located in Italy. That means that the food in the city is as amazing as in all other parts of the country.
